An excellent primer for beginning young readers “Cat Days” is composed of three short stories about a cat. The very simple vocabulary, the basic storyline, and the color illustrations keyed to the text make the stories ideal for kindergarten-age kids who are just learning to read. The stories reminded me of the old “Dick and Jane” readers that I used in the first grade in the 1950s, except instead of Spot the dog, the pet is a cat named “Cat.”Cat Days impressed me as an excellent primer for beginning young readers.
