A Timeless Gift My eight year old son received this for his birthday. At first he was frustrated at trying to figure out how to coordinate his fingers etc. This lasted maybe 15 minutes and he hasn’t looked back. He does the Eiffel Tower, witches broom, Cat’s Cradle and Jacob’s ladder very easily. It is now a matter of how fast he can do them and he certainly enjoys pulling the string out of his pocket to impress a crowd. I am so glad that I was able to give this gift to my son, in a way it is a gift of nostalgia to myself too, as I have many fond memories of creating these.
Only teaches 4 string shapes plus the one cats cradle game – buy another… I bought this for my 8 year old daughter who is really interested in string games lately. A few of her friends at school have been doing it and she wanted a book to learn how to do a bunch herself. We were very disappointed to discover that the only string shapes this book includes are the 4 on the cover – witches broom, Eiffel tower, Cup and saucer, and Jacobs ladder. Geez – seriously? Only 4 figures and 1 game?I normally like Klutz products but this one really falls short. Instead buy one of the other books that teach a multitude of shapes and games – even if they don’t include a string. You can get this string to go along with it: Super String Thingif you want a seamless string. Otherwise you can just make your own if you’re fine with a little knot.Summary: Only teaches 4 shapes & 1 game – buy another that includes more shapes & games or else your kid will be complaining about it..
A Fun Book! My sister and I recieved this book when I was 8, and her 6 years old. We really enjoyed it, because it was easy to do, with good instrutions, but still enough challenging to make it fun. We especially loved the tie died string that came with the book, and had to take turns being the one that got to use it. Another thing that we enjoyed was that we could do it all by ourselves, with out having to ask our parents to help us, because the instrutions were very easy to read, with simple laugage.Every step is illistrated, too! A good buy.
